Sally - The Empowerment Program Success Story
Sally came to The Empowerment Program seeking emploYment and housing as well as support groups for substance abuse problems. Sally admitted to using crack cocaine in the last week and had received treatment in the past; however, Sally admitted that she did not know where to start on the road towards recovery. She had been staying from shelter to shelter but wanted her own place and was willing and able to work.
Sally was enrolled into the Denver's Road Home Project at The Empowerment Program and attended our Job Readiness Training. Sally was hired at a permanent job within 15 days of attending Job Readiness Training and was making a steady income. Within one month of attending Job Readiness Training, Sally moved into a transitional housing program through Empowerment and stayed there for two months before moving into her own apartment through the First Step program. She attended several support groups at the Empowerment Program and remains sober.
